About Me
Data and AI by profession. Curious about everything else!
I'm Tanzeem. Calicut, or Kozhikode, is where I'm from, Dubai is where I've built my life, and somewhere in between I've spent close to two decades trying to make data and AI actually useful for the businesses that rely on them.
That journey started at Emirates, where I first got hooked on the idea that the numbers a business collects can tell you what to do next, not just what already happened. It took me through building business intelligence teams, leading data and AI practices for global brands, and more recently working hands-on with the newer wave of AI tools, agents, and automation. This blog is where I write about that world: what works, what's overhyped, and what I've learned building things that had to hold up in front of real clients and real budgets.
But there's a version of me that has nothing to do with dashboards or prompts.
I'm the kind of sports fan who will rearrange a weekend around a cricket match, an F1 race, a football fixture, or a Grand Slam final, sometimes all four competing for my attention at once. I bleed blue for the Indian cricket team, I'll always stop for Brazil in football even in years they're not the favourites, and I've followed Liverpool through the highs and the long droughts. I also have a soft spot for the way Barcelona plays the game, less about the results, more about the style. Tennis is where I go further back: McEnroe's fire, Agassi's flair, and Federer's game are the ones I'll still watch highlights of on a slow evening.
Working with an airline for years meant I got to travel more than most, and it changed what travel means to me. I stopped chasing landmarks a while ago. Now I'll happily spend a trip trying to understand a place through its food and its language, even if that just means learning enough words to order well and ask better questions. Some of my best conversations abroad have started with a menu I couldn't read.
I also follow current affairs closely, probably more than is relaxing, and I enjoy a good debate. Not the shouting kind, the kind where someone changes your mind a little by the end of it.
If you're here for the data posts, welcome. If you ever want to talk cricket, argue about the news, or trade restaurant recommendations, let's catch up over a coffee.
